Human neuroimaging

We use high field (3T, 7T and soon, 11.7T) structural and functional MRI to explore fundamental research questions, such as learning and decision making processes, as well as for clinical applications like MRI-guided TMS and DBS. The increased field strength enhances sensitivity in BOLD fMRI and allows for improved resolution, hence enabling more precise measurements of small brain structures and neural activity. However, these advantages come with extra challenges, such as greater sensitivity to B0 imperfections and B1+ inhomogeneities, which require methodological solutions. The lab has access to MRI scanners across a range of field strengths, from 3T to 11.7T, at facilities such as NeuroSpin, the Paris Brain Institute, and Sainte-Anne Hospital.
